Introduction

The Tin Hau Temple in Causeway Bay was built by the Dai family around the beginning of the 18th century. The Dai family was originally a Hakka from Guangdong, and initially settled in a now-forgotten village near the old Kai Tak Airport in Kowloon. Dai often went to the shore of Causeway Bay to mow grass. According to legend, some of the tribesmen picked up a statue of a god on the shore and set up a temple to worship it. As more and more fishermen came to Shangxiang, they raised funds to build a formal Tin Hau Temple
